Android N Named Nougat- Reveals Google

Google recently revealed the name of the much awaited Android N. There was widespread speculation regarding the name given to Android N. Google put to rest all speculations by revealing the name of the newest version. It has been named Android Nougat.

With this, Google has kept its tradition of naming Android versions after popular desserts. The successive series have been named Android 1.5 Cupcake, Android 1.6 Donut which was followed by Android 2.0 Éclair and Android 2.2 Froyo, along with the Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Google continued the pattern with the Android 3.0 Honeycomb, the Android Ice Cream Sandwich, the Android Jelly Bean, the Android 4.4 KitKat, the Android 5.0 Lollipop along with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

At the annual developer conference, which is an annual feature, Google requested users to provide suggestions for naming the new Android N. Google has however not revealed whether the name Android Nougat was selected as a result of suggestions provided by users or due to the preference given by Google to this name. The announcement was made by Google via Twitter. However, in the announcement, Google refrained from revealing the exact release of the new version.

Nougat is typically representative of confections family and is made of candied fruit, egg whites, roasted nuts, sugar and honey. It is the main component in the popular Snickers bar.

The new version of Android N will feature improvements in the form of number blocking facility, revamped doze, enhanced notification, multi window support system, split screen multitasking and many more.

There have been mixed bag reactions regarding the name given to Android N. After Kit Kat which was the name given to Android 4.4, the preferred choice was Nutella. The name has sparked a debate amongst users. Some believe that Nougat is not delicious enough and hence are of the opinion that Nutella is a better option. The Nougat nevertheless is expected to bring major changes in Mobile App Development India.
